Happy Birthday Baby Cade!

Oh how time flies! It is hard to believe that a whole year has passed since that special day of March 23, 2007. What is even harder to believe is that our sweet little sleepy bundle of joy from that day is now crawling, trying to walk, talking (in his own language of course), and is basically just becoming his own little person. How blessed we are to have such a sweet, healthy, happy little guy!

To celebrate Cade's big day, we had a few people over to our house for food and fun. Here are some pictures from the big event:

Cade's first four wheeler. This is what Heath and I got him. It is Power Wheels, and goes with the push of a button. I was not sure if Cade would figure it out, but it took all of about two seconds before he was flying around the house. I can tell that lots of fun will be had this summer, as it will even go through the grass.

"Happy Birthday to You!"

Loving the cake- he ate so much that I had to take it away to keep him from getting sick. It definitely made for an interesting diaper change the next morning!:(

Cousin Maddie had to test it to make sure it worked okay:)

Maddie needed to test it, too!

In honor of Cade's first year of life, I thought it would be appropriate to share a few things that I have learned this year:

1. You never realize how much you can love another person at first meeting until you see your baby for the first time. It brings true meaning to "love at first sight."

2. Poop on my hands, puke in my hair or pee on my shirt do not bother me near as much as I thought they would.

3. I may never sleep well again, but have realized that I can function on less sleep than I originally thought possible...

4. I never thought I would be a stay at home mom- and now I wouldn't trade it for anything!

5. No matter how bad of a day or night you have, a smile from your baby will make it all better.

6. I spend more on Cade's clothes than my own:) I figure people are more interested in seeing him anyway!

7. Your parents are done with you now. It is all about the grandkids now! ha ha!

8. Boys will be boys, no matter what age they are!

9. Boys LOVE their mamas:)

10. No matter how many times you hear that they grow up so fast, you never truly understand it until you have your own.

Last but not least, for my little Cade, a quote from one of my favorite books (which I hope will be one of your favorite books someday):

I love you forever

I like you for always

As long as I'm living,

My baby you'll be.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail!

Between Easter, a special 1st birthday, and a trip to Charleston for Casey's wedding, it has been a crazy week for the Thorne family! I have lots of pictures to post, but thought I would start with pictures of Cade in his sweet Easter outfit (smocked by his oh so talented grandmother, Pam). Mom, Cade and I went last weekend to a "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny." I was a bit skeptical about how Cade would react to a seven foot tall rabbit, but he absolutely loved him! I think he thought it was just a big stuffed animal. He was laughing and waving at him the whole time. Here are some pictures. Enjoy! More to come from his birthday soon!

" Don't I look precious?"

Gotta love a man in knee socks!

Zoolander

Cade has a new facial expression he has been doing all week. We think it resembles Derek Zoolander's signature "Blue Steel" look. What do you think?

Who's that cute baby?

"Have you guys checked out this cutie?"

" Seriously, I am hilarious!"

Cade, Heath and I have been really enjoying the warm spring weather here (until today, that is!), and have been spending lots of time outside. Cade and I have even gone on two long walks with the Crockett triplets. We look like a big baby parade- I am sure that the neighbors find it quite amusing! We are so ready for spring so we can be outside more!

I have been meaning to post these pictures for a while now. Cade has become a bit conceited here lately, and thinks he is so cute (maybe I tell him that too much:). Anyways, he loves to look at pictures of himself, and finds his reflection especially hilarious. My mom took these when he stayed at her house a few weeks ago.

On another note, our little friend Talor went back to school yesterday, so we are so thankful for her amazing recovery thus far!

Also, Cade wanted to wish a Happy Belated First Birthday to several of his friends: Makaylee Montgomery, Mamie Carman, Isabel Walden, Evan Wright and Sophie Casto!
