Goin' to the Chapel

Last Saturday was an exciting day for our family. Cade's Aunt Wendy (or 'Wen Wen' as he calls her:) got married to Brad Davis at Woodmont Christian Church in Nashville. Wendy looked like she had stepped right out of a bridal magazine, and the two of them are obviously so happy together. Cade was the ring bearer, which I knew could go either way for him. Luckily, he pulled off a stellar performance. Heath escorted both of the little guys (Cade and Brad's nephew Tucker who is almost 2). It was hilarious! Cade kept stopping at each aisle to smile at people. Such a show boat already. I was laughing until I was crying. Then he sat with Pam and Rick through the ceremony and was so good.
The reception was lots of fun! It was downtown near Broadway, so Wendy and Brad wanted to keep a good "Nashville" theme going. They had an awesome country band that played, and the dance floor was hopping all night. Cade and I are still recovering from our long weekend:), but we had the best time with all of our friends and family that came in for the occasion. Congratulations to the happy couple (Who are honeymooning as I type). We are so glad that all three of us could be a part of your happy day!!! Here are some pictures I have received from others. I will probably post more later...

Cousins

On Saturday, we got to go help cousin Mitchell celebrate his second birthday. Thanks for inviting us, Kristen! Cade had so much fun playing with everyone there, most especially his cousin Maddie. Maddie's mom, Karla, is my first cousin, and she and I played together a lot growing up (and for anyone who has ever met Karla, you will see that Maddie is her mini me!:). Maddie is six months older than Cade, and I know that the two of them will continue to have a lot of fun together!

First time playing in the sandbox- he LOVED it!

Next Up...Beijing '08:)?

Last Saturday, I went with Heath to Pulaski, TN where he competed in the Monster Triathlon. I must say that I was impressed before when he was in the triathlon in McMinnville, but I was really impressed (and extra proud!) this time since I got to see it in person. We left for the event at 4:30 a.m. (ouch!). I did feel a little bad while Heath and all of the other athletes were warming up around 6:00, as I sat there and ate a biscuit from Hardees:) We can't all be triathletes! Heath did an amazing job, and actually placed 4th in his age group. Way to Go!

15 Month Stats

Such a Big Boy! Yesterday, Cade had his 15-month checkup with Dr. Lavin. He did so well! He came in at 25 lbs., 4 ounces (50th percentile) and 31 inches long (60th percentile). He absolutely loves his doctor, and laid extra still while she checked his ears, belly, lungs and throat. I was most impressed that he barely flinched at either shot (although he did have a slight fever this morning). He is starting to prove that he his getting less baby and more big boy.

***Warning: mother's bragging moment coming up*** Dr. Lavin said that physically everything checked out "perfectly," and that she was "very impressed" with his mental development, even noting that he may be "too smart for his own good." I bet she tells all the moms that:) Needless to say, I left feeling very proud. I can only imagine what a psycho I will be whenever he starts getting into sports, school, etc. I am sure you other proud moms out there can relate! Here are a few pictures I have taken this week:

I had to post pics of this outfit, as I know there is a very small window that I can get away with sweet outfits like this!

Happy 4th!

We had a great July 4th holiday. We spent the afternoon playing at the Thorne's farm swimming, riding the Gator and watching fireworks. It has gotten to be quite a tradition, and we were glad that most of Heath's family and even Wendy and Brad were able to come. There is a big hill behind Rick and Pam's house were you can see the City of Lebanon fireworks, which is actually quite a good show. Rick hooked the trailer up to his tractor (think "hayride" without the hay) and we all piled on to ride up the hill to catch the show (of course we also brought the freezer of homemade ice cream- yum!) Cade was such a trooper. He loved the fireworks and of course the ice cream. Despite being up way past his bedtime, he was so good and would say "Wow!" when he saw fireworks that he liked.

Go Daddy Go!

Last weekend, Heath competed in his first triathlon in McMinnville, TN. It included a 300 meter swim, a 16-mile bike ride and a 5K run. He has worked so hard this year to get ready for it, and was really pleased with his finishing time. For me personally, I would have probably sunk to the bottom of the pool during the first leg of the race. Here are a couple of pictures from the big event. We are so proud of you!!!

Matchmaker, Matchmaker...

Two very dear friends of mine got married a couple of weekends ago. Heath and I were excited to go to West Lafayette, Indiana for the big event. Shannon and I worked together right after we graduated from college. We were two of the six women selected to be chapter consultants for Phi Mu Fraternity, and spent the 2003-2004 school year traveling all over the Eastern U.S. visiting Phi Mu chapters at different universities. We had the best time and became fast friends.
Mark is a friend of mine from UT. He is one of the sweetest people I know and has such a good heart.
Long story short, after our year with Phi Mu, Shannon started working in Fort Lauderdale. A couple of years later, Mark's company relocated him to Fort Lauderdale. I suggested to Shannon that she show Mark around since he was new to town. And the rest is history....:) Congrats to the happy couple!
